Fall colors are here

What’s this – cool temperatures? Leaves turning and falling? The Gardens of Eatin’ aren’t finished by a long shot and yet it seems fall has decided to shove aside summer like a little brother and showcase its autumn colors.

Taking cue, these Swiss Chard almost radiate as they complete their final leg to the dinner table. Many others in Home Demonstration are splashing the area with color as well, giving reminder that autumn is just around the corner.

Likewise, this Country Gentleman sweet corn stalk, nibbled on by birds in the area, showcases the typical rust-and-gold-colored theme of the new season.

Not to be outdone, this Bronze Fennel, a decorative plant located in the Salad Garden for Four, falls in line and compliments the back drop of turning sugar maples and birch trees to the west beyond the gardens.

Stop by the Arboretum to catch the last of the garden harvest – the colors will be around as long as fall can fight off winter!
