Taste & Toast Returns for 2021

The foodie event for summer is back -- with COVID-19 precautions in place.

After a year off due to the pandemic, we’re delighted to bring back the best of Taste & Toast: delicious food and drink, beautiful gardens and live music.

Join us the evening of July 28, and experience the Arboretum’s summer gardens at their peak while sampling food and drink from 45 local restaurants, food trucks, wineries, breweries and cideries. Guests will also enjoy live music from Salsa del Sol and the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra as they stroll through the gardens.

While we’ve taken care to preserve the best parts of Taste & Toast, we’ve also looked for ways to keep guests comfortable and safe as we navigate the changing landscape of the pandemic. We’ve created three timed ticketing options, which will limit the number of guests in the gardens at one time, and we’ve spread out the sampling stations, providing more space for guests to physically distance. We’ve also added more designated places for eating and drinking. As we get closer to the event, we’ll make sure to follow all the state and University of Minnesota guidelines surrounding COVID-19.

The evening will start with a Patron event from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., with general admission guests entering during two event times, 6:45 to 8:00 p.m. or 8:00 to 9:15 p.m. Patrons will get a branded swag bag with goodies, as well as the first entry to the gardens. All attendees will receive the signature Arb wine glass to take home and access to samples at 45 restaurants, wineries, breweries and cideries. Tickets are $175 for patrons and $100 for general admission.

Buy Tickets

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. on May 18. Find the link to buy tickets at tasteandtoast.umn.edu.

Arboretum members will have the opportunity to buy tickets on May 16. Watch for an email that will be sent to members at 9 a.m. May 16 to be among the first to buy tickets.

Tickets to Taste & Toast have sold-out quickly in years’ past, so we recommend buying tickets as soon as they are available.

This year’s food & drink

Proceeds from Taste & Toast benefit the Arboretum, but the event is also an opportunity to support the local restaurant community. We hope guests will reconnect with old favorites and make new restaurant discoveries, contributing to a vibrant and thriving restaurant community after a devastating year.

  1. Specifically, what precautions will be in place for guests – how many guests will be allowed in with each time slot? Will guests and vendors be required to wear masks? Will there be any requirements as far as vaccinations go for guests if there won’t be a mask requirement? Etc.

    • Thank you for asking those questions! We will be following the state and University of Minnesota guidelines at the time of the event surrounding masks and other safety precautions. At this point, we don’t have any vaccination requirements for guests. We will allow 375 guests for each general admission time slot and 250 guests for the patron time slot.
